To start off with, let me say that there were three major reasons I believed Tobi couldn't be Obito:
1. He was way too old. Now what looks like age has been discribed as injury instead. However, it does not explain how he was seen at several events that Obito couldn't have been at: Namely the manipulating of the mizukage (note the long hair), and being around to corrupt the akatsuki.
2. He knows too many things that Obito shouldn't know on his own. He knew all about Madara and his plan, the story behind the sage of 6 paths and the juubi, and forbidden sharingan techniques like Izanagi that he couldn't have figured out on his own. I seriously doubt Madara was still alive and at the battle for the bridge to save some random Uchiha kid. He should have died by that point and the fact that he looks middle aged as an edo goes to show that he did'nt exactly live to be an old man.
3. The obvious personality shift. Pre-giant rock Obito was pretty much pure good. There's no way somebody with the same ideology as Naruto can turn that evil without help. Can you imagine Naruto turning into a murderer with ambitions for world domination on his own?
In summary, Obito obviously had some help getting to where he is now, and it's highly unlikely that Madara himself could be responsible due to coming down with a bad case of death. Was there another 'Tobi' who was carrying out Madara's plan and eventually passed the torch to Obito? It could be possible that whoever this is is simply playing to be Obito, but he's been stalking Kakashi a little too much. There almost has to be another character that we don't know about, unless Zetsu isn't the tool we think he is.
What do you think?
