He left the village and joined its greatest enemy, killed oro and took his power for his own purposes, killed Deidara because he was there, killed Itachi for vengeance, joined the Akatsuki, attacked and captured Killer Bee and by extension attacked the Cloud Village, Attacked the Kage Summit, Assaulted the 5 Kage, Killed Danzo the leader of the Anbu Black ops and standing Hokage, Refused to return to his village, and assaulted previous teammates

Everything good he's done he's done for his own reasons and without the villages permission or without thinking of the consequences that could befall the village if he did them.

I mean what if when he killed Itachi and Deidara he rejoined the village and they welcomed him back as a hero? That would only antagonize the Akatsuki to attack him and the village.
