Well, for one your claim doesn't make literary sense, since any battle won by any character in a story is won by plot, fiction is fiction, no matter how straight forward the battle may be.

And two, this only plot device I can think of that can help any character in battles is Deus Ex Machina (Among others but this one is the most common), so if I've counted every battle involving Naruto correctly, there are 4-5 battles won with Deus Ex Machina. And Naruto has been in way more battles than that.

If that's the case then that's how it is with all fights.They all effect the plot amd moves it forward.Wins or losses.I could say,Sasuke Vs Gaara was interrupted in the staduim cause Sasuke would of won and its because of plot that It had to be stopped so Naruto could fight him.Or i could say,Sasuke only lost to Gaara in the forest cause Naruto needed to fight him to show how much stronger he became and make Sasuke jealous,it was purely for plot.
