I have been thinking about this for a while cause he beat sm naruto and he wasnt trying cause he wanted to take naruto alive and if god path didnt use his powers early one naruto would of been dead by now

I still doubt if Nagato knew the weakness to his chibaku tensei and also

I think they're an even match, but i'm in favour of Nagato overall he's more versatile and can match Naruto's power. Naruto's main attacks are chakra based which petra path can deal with as well as his cloak.

nagato can absorb all attacks so unlike pain is very hard to defeat
kurama is out of play because all his chakra will be absorbed so no bm mode and tai jutsu is useless because of shira tensei and naruto can not do gen jutsu

Lol Narutos speed comes nearest to Minatos and he can beat 5 Bijus, think about it. And if the Bijudama Naruto is able to use will explode right before Nagato, he will be wiped out instantly. Sure, Nagato is strong, but somewhere is a limit ;D.

Naruto is skilled enough to know that his Km cloak is made out of Kuramas chakra. He wouldn't be taken down by Preta path. Naruto would create a plan while Kurama and his toad summons take care of the job. Naruto steps in and does his job. It's debatable that Nagato could beat him although Naruto isn't a child that keeps falling for the same thing over and over again.

Healthy Nagato would beat Naruto. It was not long after Naruto got the nine tails chakra mode when he met with Nagato and would have been beat quickly if it were not for Bee and Itachi being there to save him.

Yes he has, but SM is necessary. Otherwise, Nagato would be absorbing Naruto's KM and BM if they even make contact or try to blitz him along with all their long-ranged chakra attacks. SM clones could be kept throughout the environment disguised as objects in the environment incase Nagato chooses to use Preta Path. With BM alone, then it's a no. Naruto has surpassed him with the combination of his clones and different modes. SM against Preta Path which would subdue Naruto's BM and BM against Deva Path's Chibaku Tensei which would outdo Sage Mode. Naruto would have to set up a strategy though.
