Theory alert
Boruto amd kara have seals and i think thier function is the collection for human souls or soulz in general. The more souls you got the more power your seal is.
I think kawaki has the 7ths soul in his seal
And bourto has sasuke in his.. theier able yo borrow knowledge and some power for the souls aquired .. maybe even rare abilitys .

I think this is how its going to work becuz killing somone isnt evil enough you got to trap thier dead soul to be used for eternity so that they can never move on to the next world.

Btw not all souls or lives are equal.. 7th is probably worth 100 soulz and a genin is like 2-3 and a normal person is 1.

Lets say he didnt kill sasuke lets say sasuke is at near death, out to get info.....soumd familiar thats right thats what jiraiya did and he got his ass whooped. It probably happened because he exerted to much charka alrdy and the seal was trying to take over him. Cause and effect bourto went all out and like any powerful thing in naruto universe will eat up you charka or your body.(sasuke curse seal/sages weapons)
