Raikiri is updated version of Chidori from the creator of the jutsu...
It was named 'Rai-Kiri' when Kakashi enhanced and strengthened Chidori to the point where it was able to penetrate through a lightning bolt...

Since Chidori/Raikiri is concentrated at a point, larger the spread means it's not perfectly concentrated...

Kakashi's Raikiri is concentrated to the max. but the sparks fly here and there which makes it look bigger in size...
