We have started to see that this technique is not as OP as you used to be as it can easily be cancelled?
What do you think the pros and cons are?

Genjutsu is pretty great but only in one on one fights.

The pros are:

Can control the target
Can break the mind if it's a genjutsu like Tsukiyomi
Can control bijuu if it's a sharingan user

Cons:

Does not work if there are more than one opponent because they can break the victim out of the genjutsu.
Does'nt work on perfect jinchuriki for the same reason.

^^^
So can sharingan genjutsu, and muu's clam. And basically all genjutsu.

Genjutsu is easily the most powerful tech in show. Infinite tsukuyomi guaranteed it's position. With techs like izanami, izanagi, tsukuyomi, frog song and clam genjutsu also in the mix it's easy to see that genjutsu rocks out

Sharringan gem jutsu can only hit multiple targets if the targets all look in The eyes or it's used multiple times

Yeah, but aside from the Frog Song there's not that many which can completely shut down someone.Even Tayuya's Sound Genjutsu was broken easily.
It obviously depends on the target. Even night guy can't shut everyone, doesn't mean it's op. Morning peacock can barely shut down any decent s-class but it's still op. Only fodders die to rasing an on its own (no ftg/clones to help hit) but it's still op ninjutsu. Just because all genjutsu doesn't one shot doesn't mean anything. People will obviously develop defenses to things they're weak to.

Genjutsu is something that bounces from either being overpowered to completely useless, it has stayed that way during the entire series imo.

Broken easy? The only times it was broken was when a sharingan user over rode it, and when someone broke their finger with a special ability that is unique to his clan. Other than that, you're not getting out fast enough to matter.

It's like saying Kurenai solos the Third Raikage since he has no counters to genjutsu

Most genjutsu can be easily broken, by inflicting pain on yourself or using "Kai"

(KA still solos tho)
