has anyone considered that gai Maybe isn't using the 8th gate? Maybe just maybe he knows some other forbidden jutsu cuz lets be honest i dont think the 8th gate can do much damage to someone like Madara. but i guess we will find out tommorow

8th Gate is severly hyped in manga and that logically... It isn't going to be something less worthy[like Prime Hiruzen]...

But it gets old with people not understanding what the editors note stands for.

NOWHERE. I repeat. NOWHERE, did kishi say gai went 8 gates.

That was the EDITORS note. It is where the editor, puts a comment to hype the next chapter. Most of the time the comment is not true.


For example. After the chapter where sasuke killed the zetsu(like 550 or something) the editor wrote " Carnage is about to hit the battlefield!?"

Yet sasuke(aka the carnage) never made it to the battle field till 80 chapters or so later. And when he got there, he did not cause carnage.

If you notice with my above example, It was a question/exclamation.

In the example of this chapter it was

"NEXT TIME guy finnally uses that forbidden technique!?"

So guy did not use 8 gates or forbidden technique yet. It is just hype for next chapter.


So pretty much ignore any quote you see in the manga that has ?! as the ending punctuation. It is just the editors note.


But I do hope guy goes 8 gates though. It has been hyped, and it would be a great way for guy to die. He would never lose his "fountain of youth", because he would die before he got old.

Actually I'm pretty certain it was said to be beyond kage level. The direct quote was something like "The user gains power even greater than a hokage, but the cost of the technique is death"

While he obviously doesnt have any chance at actually winning against Madara with the 8th gate he could easily stall for time while Naruto and Sasuke are healing up, especially with the help of Kakashi.

I actually considered that it might be a technique besides 8th gate when I first read that last page last week, but what could it be? 8 gates is the most obvious choice as it's been built up for a long time. I find the most obvious answer is usually the correct one in Naruto manga.
