Okay so I've just started watching the Harry Potter movies, and so far they're good. However, there's some things that didn't make much sense to me in the Prisoner of Azkaban, so I was hoping someone could help me make sense of it all.

First thing, why did the Dementor's attack Harry Potter? Is it because they knew he would have time traveled and tried to help Sirius, which would mean he's in their way? If this is the case, why didn't they all just jump Harry at a certain moment all together and kill him?

The second question is on the time travel bit. So when Harry gets hit in the head with that rock, it's Granger throwing it at him, and when Granger see's something in the woods it's herself, and when all 3 of them see the Hippogryph getting it's head chopped off, it's really just the pumpkin, right? If everything was the exact same, why did they need to go back in time to help out Sirius? Wouldn't they have already done that? What exactly did Granger and Harry do differently to help out Sirius so he wasn't taken back to jail/killed? Unless it was just giving us a POV of present time and then when they went back in time?

They were more attracted to Harry because of his past.the dementors are more attracted to people with a traumatic past.there is also another theory with a different explanation but it will spoil the last movie.I have no clue about the time travel thing either, but read the books they're so much better

Really? I don't remember it saying that in the movie, unless I kinda just dozed out lol, which could've been the case. I just remember them killing anything that gets in their way is all.

Dementors can sense fear, and have an instinct for those who have hope or happy memories. Harry's single memory of his parents as a baby was visibly powerful enough to quickly allow him to produce a full bodied Patronus, despite being only 13.

They were just giving a POV (first of present, then of future); remember the first time they did that whole journey? Harry felt the stone hit him, and the stone that hit the vase prior. They can't show the unedited present, because the future HH have already edited it.

Had they not done so, Sirius would've been locked in the tower or wherever it was until the dementors had come to finish him off. Their editing it broke him free and allowed him to get away.

The time travel stuff is very different in the Book 3 then in the Movie. And if they hadn't gone back then things would have bee different. Buckbeak would have died and Sirius would have been Kissed.

But there is something even deeper wrong with the Time Turners and I would go more into why but that would be major Spoilers.

But it's safe to say the Time Turners are a story breaking magic and J.K has even said she should have been more defined on what the rules are to using it.

And the problem with the series is there are few Magic if they excited should have been used but are not.

After watching the movies you should read the books. That way you have a better understanding about everything, or just skip the movies, and read the books. Like always the books are better.
