Okay so I've just started watching the Harry Potter movies, and so far they're good. However, there's some things that didn't make much sense to me in the Prisoner of Azkaban, so I was hoping someone could help me make sense of it all.
First thing, why did the Dementor's attack Harry Potter? Is it because they knew he would have time traveled and tried to help Sirius, which would mean he's in their way? If this is the case, why didn't they all just jump Harry at a certain moment all together and kill him?
The second question is on the time travel bit. So when Harry gets hit in the head with that rock, it's Granger throwing it at him, and when Granger see's something in the woods it's herself, and when all 3 of them see the Hippogryph getting it's head chopped off, it's really just the pumpkin, right? If everything was the exact same, why did they need to go back in time to help out Sirius? Wouldn't they have already done that? What exactly did Granger and Harry do differently to help out Sirius so he wasn't taken back to jail/killed? Unless it was just giving us a POV of present time and then when they went back in time?
