Happy, sad, or bittersweet?

Which type of ending do you prefer in an anime most of the time?

It's always been a tough choice for me. As much as I love happy endings, I personally feel a bit more enjoyment in sad endings. It adds more of an emotional tug to the anime, thus adding more of an impact to the viewer (being well written and enjoyable is subjective ofc).

It depends honestly you got to find the middle ground between happy endings and to the extreme sad endings you you usually see. You cannot overuse the same type of endings every time before it gets dull and repetitive.

I don't understand why anyone would NOT want a happy ending.

I love emotional tugs and sadness but not at the ending.

It depends heavily on the series' tone. I don't like it when endings feel off, when they don't correspond to the buildup etc. I equally dislike overly sad endings for the sake of drama and overly happy endings in series with a lot of tragedy (where you'd think at least the characters would remain traumatized).
