I would have thought that the numerous pictures would have told you that this was not Chinese
Is this the festival where they throw the coloured dust? I've seen this on TV, I can't remember what it brepresents, give us an explanation please =D
And Happy Holi to you
Coming of spring and starting of new year calender in some regions of India. There are some colourful story of an Avatara of Vishnu, Narasinha, and him killing a demon surrounding it too but the festival itself is rather secular by nature so it managed to appeal many beyond those regions and communities.
Last day of the year leaves with a large bon fire and the next morning people meet each other to greet them and share various special snacks and dishes along with playing with colours and all. The chance to show lot of colour and heroine in wet cloth made it a popular theme for Bollywood moives too - partial reason of wider popularity.
Also a day for pulling pranks on others or being a goofball oneself- there used to be competition where people competed for "Idiot of the day" award. lol Though that tradition is dying because TV and internet stole that kind of free time.
Now that I think about it Corgi is kind of playing Holi already.
