I believe Hanzo has a better chance against Nagato than against 6 path of Pain, since his poison and taijutsu would be useless against Pain but very effective against Nagato.

Under battle conditions no way. Nagato had never used rinnegan like this before and if Hanzo knew he was dealing with an inexperienced Rinnegan user I doubt he wouldve just stood there and watch. He would've gone for his throat immediately.

We can't know that this'll happen, still- if it does happen and he gets something HUGE (something able to trump poison) then Hanzo takes this title for sure.

Yes, it does seem like he was the Apex Shinobi during the Second Shinobi War. Not only did he resist Kabuto's Edo Tensei WITHOUT KA or having the freedom to set himself free, he led Amegakure through fighting multiple nations. As they tended to fight in his small country.

I personally believe he is both an intelligent leader and a powerful shinobi.

I would put him in the same tier as the Kages of the past, not sure about Madara and Naruto. He's in my top ten favorite characters though! And yeah, what he did and how he kept Amegakure around is truly a feat. Considering that he had to pull it through two (Possibly three) wars.

You think? Pair up how many ninja could actually defeat him and it's a similar number to that of Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi and the like. There are about 3 ninja who could straight up defeat him long range with HUGE jutsu (Hashi/Madara/Nagato (The huge rinne tensei that pulls opponents into the sky) and like 2 ninja who could defeat him through specialist means (Hidan, Kamui user, the dead Pain bodies) and even those are not entirely decided. And yeah, you'd think a place like that would disappear, i'm so glad we got to see more of a beast who defeated and took mercy on the SANNIN. Happy he didn't just turn out to be some Danzo clone.

Also where'd you get the impression that the Deva Path is 1/6 of Nagato? It doesn't exactly work like that aha. If Hanzo had known he was faced with a rinnegan user (the most unlikely thing ever) he could've ordered his men to kill him instantly and could've easily done it himself. He wouldn't have stood around purposely provoking a rinnegan user. Hanzo only withdrew because of the shock of actually facing a rinnegan user, he wasn't prepared and he's a cautious survivor, which is why he lived so long.

Actually we do not know not half of his abilities. And apparently when he was facing Mifune round 2, he had a jutsu to wipe them all out instantly! But Mifune stopped the hand seals.

So do not assume we have seen everything from hanzou when its a fact we did not.

Nagato easily broke through his defences which was said to be safeguarded 24/7 and even children were inspected, but nagato got him when he was sleeping lol, he was vulnerable in his current location lol
