Background
Hanzo who was regularly referred to as Hanzo the Salamander, was leader of the Hidden Rain village throught most of his life. When Hanzo was a kid their was a black salamander that died in his village. Hoping to create a "venomous" ninja who was imune to poisons, the poison sac of the salamander was implanted into Hanzo. This required him to wear a mask to protect other around him and even himself, due to the overwhelming strength of the poison. During the 2nd great shinobi war Hanzo fought many ninja from the Hidden Leaf, but the only ones to survive was the team who would return to their village to be given the title "The Legendary Sannin". Hanzo also fought Chiyo numerous times allowing her to create an antidote. Years later during the 3rd Shinobi World War, when a group of ninja had a mission to end war through any means necessary in his country, Hanzo viewed the organization as a threat to his power and decided to get rid of them. He teamed up with the Leaf's Root Organization to kill the group's leader, Yahiko. He lured Yahiko to a meeting where he forced Nagato, to kill Yahiko in exchange for Konan's life. Even though Yahiko ran into Nagato's kunai so he wouldn't have to bear the burden. This caused Nagato to go berserk and Hanzo fled the scene. Nagato, now called "Pain", later began a civil war in the Hidden Rain. According to the stories, he single-handedly killed Hanzo, his family, and his retainers, and then conducted a systematic genocide of anybody even remotely associated with Hanzo, even to the extent of terminating the ambassadors of the villages Hanzo was associated with.

Hanzo was recognized as one of the strongest ninja of his time, and was praised by the whole ninja world for his skills. Hanzo was so strong that Jiraya was in shock when he heard Pain took him down. It is said to be that no ninja ever was faster in the water than Hanzo. Hanzo had fire nature,when he tried to kill Nagato, he showed some impressive skill for combining these skills with trap-oriented techniques when he perfectly placed multiple of explosive tags just incase he needed it. When he was young Hanzo wielded a kusarigama with impressive skill, being able to defeat a variety of dangerous opponents through the use of this weapon alone.
Poison
As I said before he implanted the venom sac from the black salamander leaving a scar on the left side of his abdomen. His poison was beyond deadly. It caused victims to experience excruciating pain until they only felt numbness, where these effects would then progress to complete paralysis and ultimately death within two days from inhalation. For the safety of others, Hanzo always breathed using a respirator and always carried the antidote with him, even though immediate ingestion of it did not mean you were gonna live. Fighting without his mask gave Hanzo a huge advantage over his opponents but it also made a big risk for himself. The mask completely fixed this risk and so he decided only to remove it when fighting weaker enemies that he could defeat without consequence. He kept it on while fighting stronger opponents who could have capitalized on such a weakness.
Summoning Technique
Hanzo was considered to be quite adamant in summoning. His signature creature was the massive salamander Ibuse(below) who just like his master is a poisonous salamander and is able if given the right amount of time, for storing a large amount of poisonous gas inside its body , which can be continuously exhaled from its mouth when Hanzo so chooses. This poison is strong enough to almost completely paralyse opponents just a few seconds after inhaling, leaving them entirely at Hanzo's mercy. Ibuse was also able to tunnel through the ground in order to avoid attacks and then come back to the surface right under an enemy to swallow them, causing them to die due to the deadly toxins in its body. With this creature, Hanzo was strong enough to fight and overpower all 3 Sannin in their youth.
