Hanzo didn't beat the Sannin in their primes. He beat them during their younger days, then gave them the Title of Sannin. We truly do not know the Sannin's "Prime" other than what we have seen as of current.

Young does not necessarily mean Prime. Prime is at he/she's strongest point in time. With Age comes Knowledge, and with Knowledge comes Power.

If we don't truly know what their prime were how can you say he didn't beat them in their prime? Good job contradicting yourself.

Knowledge is not always power. Give Shikamaru complete knowledge on everyone and all technique's that exist, how to counter them and how they work and he's still fodder and beats no one.

I personally thought that battle was underwhelming. It felt short and he didn't even use any jutsu. I was hoping to see something that would make him live up to his name as being the one that defeated Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya at the same time.
