Okay so madara is quite high in akatsuki right? Basically in league with pein, he is one of the top runners with konon and zetsu?

So then why did madara act all retarded when sasori died and ask to be in akatsuki, was it just for the audiences sake of thinking madara was new and not involved?

If so thats retarded...No one was around to hear them if they wanted to trick people or something...it appears madara really was totally mental and gaga despite him already being a member of akatsuki.

i think itachi did not know tobi was madara and tobi/madara joinin akatsuki was part off his fail-safe for itachi,
if itachi knew tobi was madara why didn't he make sask's eye burn tobi's mask??
plus kisame never knew who tobi was till after the itachi and sask fight.

Why hide from the underlings by acting immature in front of pein and only pein in that scene?

No one else was there.

Itachi knew who he was because he saw him in the forest and had one of his masks on, with one eye only, i think itachi is smart enough to realise.

I just dont understand why madara had to act all immature and ask pein to let him join when no one else was there, it makes me think he really might have a few moments of insanity he cant control maybe?

Kisame didnt know who tobi was because of the mask, once he lifted it he knew who it was, meaning he doesnt always hide his face....


I understand why he acted immature in front of other akatsuki members, but im talking specifically about that scene after sasori was defeated where he was assumedly pretending to be a useless weirdo, and dropping the ring etc and acting all useless when the other akatsuki arent around...only him and pein...???

Madara acted like a retard because his goal was to take sasukes eyes, but like Madara said in the magna, all the other members ( Diedara,Sasori,Hidan,Kakuzu,Itachi, ) would get in the way. so he had to wait intell they were gone, so then he can reviel himself to the other members, and take controle.

If you're talking about this part, That's not Pein, It's Zetsu, then Deidara comes in. Unless it happens differen'tly in the manga, because I didn't start reading it untill I caught up with the anime..

First of all, to clarify things, Madara is leader of the Akatsuki.
This is proven because Pein takes orders from Madara.
Konan can't be the leader because she basically does whatever Pein tells her.
And Zetsu isn't the leader because he takes orders from basically everyone.
Now, on to the question.
Well Madara was acting like his childish persona, Tobi, in order to fool the rest of Akatsuki.
He acted like a fool in order to let the Akatsuki [Excluding Pein, possibly Konan, Itachi, and possibly Zetsu] continue to believe that Pein was the leader.
The reason he did this was to have Akatsuki do his bidding without them really knowing.
Akatsuki thought they were collecting the Bijuu so that Pein could control them and rule the world WITH Akatsuki.
Obviously, this isn't the case.
Akatsuki was collecting the Bijuu for Madara's reasons, not Pein's.
In that scene that Twistedlink mentioned, Tobi/Madara wasn't an official member of Akatsuki at yet that point so by taking Sasori's ring and with the recommendation of Zetsu, he would be an official member of Akatsuki, even thought at that point he was already controlling Akatsuki through Pein.
I think the reason he was acting like Tobi in that part was to fool Zetsu, who I believe was there at the time.
Maybe Zetsu, at that point, had no idea that Madara was the real leader of Akatsuki?
I hope that kind of clarified things a little :/

Maybe Madara's using Pein as a pawn, letting him think that he'll let him become a 'god' or whatever. He joined Akatsuki so that when he reveals his real plan, if Pein decides to oppose him, not only does he plan on beating him, but he'll be an official member of the organization so he no longer has to pull the strings secretly. Also, if it does come to a battle between Pein and Madara (and I'm betting it will) Madara will most likely win in front of the other members, proving how powerful he is and why he should be in charge. Win-win situation for Tobi.
