After finishing the 3/5 episode i noticed something from the convo of sai and Hanabi:

According to the convo and what hanabi said in the end i think she was purposely picked for the team specifically for Sumire. seems like Sai still doesn't fully trust sumire and her nue so he picked a hyuga prodigy to look after her.

She is basically Sumire's Yamato. Does this mean Hanabi will be irrelevant since in the future Sumire works for the Lab? If so, it is a bad play from the writers because Hanabi actually has a fanbase.
