Do you think Hanabi could have benefited more [as a character] if she were assigned to Team Ebisu? I'm sure Moegi is a decent character and played along quite well with Konohamaru and Udon's antics, but I feel like Hanabi takes precedence over Moegi and would have really shined on Team Ebisu. She definitely would have gotten more screen time, and it could've paved the foundation for relationship between Konohamaru and Hanabi =D

Nah she's too good for team trash, and certainly for relationship with fodderamaru. She's the heiress of the Hyuga clan carrying the purest eyes and bloodline.

But, it'd be better than not having a team at all. Being placed on Team Ebisu could have provided her with more development than what she was offered :dunno: I really hate how character's like these sort of fade into obscurity, when they have potential to be great! Not to say that Hananbi isn't great, but she's lacking in development. She had a few filler episodes to herself I believe, when she cut her hair. But overall she was introduced and than withdrawn, like giving candy to a baby and then taking it away. I'm glad she made an appearance at all in Boruto.

But I think we can both agree, Hanabi is so great that she'd turn a trash team into gold.

It's Hyuga policy to protect the heir and nurture them for successorship, it would clearly break from traditon. The trash team would get an upgrade and become elite but at her expense. I personally think with a series focusing on Otsutsuki she should've been the lead character (being a Hyuga with purest eyes). That way she could get character development, focus even flashback development while showcasing greatness.

What if she switched places with Hinata? As in Hinata is the younger sister; she's talentless as a Hyuag so she's constantly trying to keep up with her older sister Hanabi. Hanabi is talented and takes pride in her abilities, but she's frustrated that Neji is always one step ahead of her. After watching Neji beat Hanabi, Naruto decides to inherit Hanabi's ambition and defeat Neji himself. Hanabi falls in love with Naruto after watching him defeat Neji, and after the Great Shinobi War in the subsequent anime series, they eventually marry and have children. This sounds like a very interesting story...but I think I'd still prefer Hinata's. It hits you really hard when your little sister is more talented than you are, and the cousin you're competing against seems miles ahead of you. And her relationship with Naruto might be preferable to an older Hanabi with Naruto; finding confidence and strength in Naruto, and growing into a happy and fully-realized young woman.

No just no, she's too good to be reduced to pairing fodder and trash. It would be a rinse and repeat just with another character. Hanabi should be the lead character of the new series is shouldn't be called Boruto, the Hyuga have every reason and opportunity to be relevant in this series.

You think Naruto is fodder and trash? Because that's who I paired her with in my post o.o

Well I wouldn't call him trash perse even though he relies on handouts and Kurama. He's not really a ninja either (orange jumpsuit really). Hanabi would be reduced to pairing fodder and trash which would be bad for her. Hanabi's likeable because of who she is otherwise she'd just be another Hinata and yes Naruto's a mongrel.

Naruto doesn't wear a flak jacket because he never climbed rank to Chūnin or Jōnin, which are the only two ranks in which you would receive missions that necessitate the use of flak jackets.

"A flak jacket is an item of protective clothing popular among ninja. Flak jackets have several pockets and pouches that can be used to store and quickly access weapons and other supplies. When on missions, they provide at least partial protection from damage by blunt-force trauma, shrapnel, other projectiles, and even blades."

- Narutopedia

I think it's just a matter of preference, and standing out as the main character. Sasuke, Sakura, Hinata, Sai, etc. These characters also chose there personal choice of clothing over flak jackets, at least until the war started.

I meant her how it would benefit her character in the Naruto series, not the Boruto series, although adding Hanabi to the team would have made the team itself a lot more interesting, and given Hanabi more screen time.

I never said flat jacket, I was reffering to the bright orange suit, or charging into a situation instead of standing on the sides and analysing like ninja do.

Hanabi was being groomed to be the heiress of the Hyuga clan, and let's face it, Ebisu was outmatched by his students during the pain arc, I don't really see any benefit of her being apart of the team.

Ha, I knew you were going to say that, about the flak jacket. I just figured I'd bring it up because it's the most common attire amongst ninja, if not the simple long-sleeve/mesh-armor and sweatpants they wear underneath.

As for Naruto charging into situations without thinking ahead, sure he brash and irrational at times, but it's that sort of unorthodox approach and unpredictability that often gives him the win, such as in his battle against :

Not to say that Naruto isn't intelligent and doesn't think things through though. There were times when he even outsmarted Neji, someone who has been referred to as a genius on multiple occassion:

Naruto even outsmarts ninja who severely outrank him, such as creating a plan that tricks :

And we can't forget the time Naruto tricked Kiba into attacking Akamaru:

And about him charging into a situation? On the contrary, he's displayed Kakashi-level thought processing as far as using clones for misdirection is concerned:

You must be registered for see images

If anything, his Talk no Jutsu should also be seen as contrary evidence to him being "charging into a situation" like some sort of reckless deviant. He changed Neji's mind about destiny, brought Zabuza to tears, taught Gaara the value of love, and convinced Tsunade to become Hokage, amongst many other things. He can be spontaneous because that's his nature as a character, but he also runs around redefining people's entire philosophical standards, which is tough when people can be stubborn (Sasuke).

Most of these are plot nerfs for the opposing character, or underestimating the opponent. But thanks for trying nonetheless.

Can you provide any evidence that these are plot nerfs for the opposing character?

Because it seems pretty clear-cut that Naruto isn't just some brash idiot. He even created a strategy for defeating Kakuzu, immediately after having failed in his first approach, confirmed by Kakashi:

You must be registered for see images

That sort of improvisation can't really be considered "rushing blindly into a situation". There's the clever use of Truth-Seeking Orbs in conjunction with Shadow Clone Jutsu, tricking Obito, Sakura, Black Zetsu, and KAGUYA HERSELF:

You must be registered for see images

Now the Sexy Jutsu being effective against Kaguya would be considered plot nerf. But the above is a clear example of though-out strategy working perfectly on someone with eons of experience in combat. He even got the upper-hand on Kakashi that one time, forcing Kakashi to let his guard down by revealing a secret about the main character in Icha Icha Tactics:

Naruto was bailed out by Kakashi and Yamato he didn't have a back up plan.

That's what he does, he spams clones and hides amongst them or uses them to overwhelm his opponents. That's his battle style it's not really strategic intelligence.

With all due respect Kaguya isn't a ninja or a battle hardened fighter, she's just a character with overwhelming power and no strategy to employ it.

Naruto vs Haku just goes into the situation without a second thought, Naruto in the Forrest of death is another example, Naruto vs Kimimaro and Naruto vs Orochimaru etc it continues throughout the manga. You could say he doesn't have a large arsenal of jutsu to develop diverse strategies as ninja would. This isn't a bash of Naruto it's just that he's not up there, he even admitted it during the Madara fight if I'm not mistaken.

Do you have scans for this? Because in the scan that I provided even Kakashi himself admitted that Naruto came up with the strategy himself; whether Kakashi and Yamato backed him up to help him implement said plan is something entirely different.
That's what he does, he spams clones and hides amongst them or uses them to overwhelm his opponents. That's his battle style it's not really strategic intelligence.

I don't know if you actually read over the scan, but in this specific scenario he tricked Kaguya, Black Zetsu, Sakura, and Obito, as shown in the scan.

With all due respect Kaguya isn't a ninja or a battle hardened fighter, she's just a character with overwhelming power and no strategy to employ it.

Oh look, an employment of strategy, with the clever use of Amenominaka:

You must be registered for see images

Kaguya isn't battle-hardened? When she was preparing an entire army to fight Otsutsuki coming after her? I mean, from there you could say that Kaguya needed the White Zetsu because she couldn't fight her own battles, but she was ready to fight. She fought Hagoromo and Hamura, she fought Naruto and Sasuke. And she has enough knowledge about herself and her abilities to utilise them in complex and clever manners. I have multiple scans proving so, if you'd like.

Those are you only examples? A hyperactive child charging into combat? These don't take into account his development that carries into Naruto Shippuden. The only example I can think of from Naruto Shippuden is when Kakashi had to stop Naruto from trying to fight Deidara. Like I said, that's his character, sometimes he charges in recklessly. But there is an overwhelming amount of superior evidence on the contrary, where Naruto employs actual, substantial strategy to trick his opponents, rather than just "charging in after them".

He used a strategy which Kakashi taught him but anyway he was bailed out by Yamato and Kakashi. They didn't plan on backing him up and neither did he think it through.

I know what happened but there's nothing strategic about spamming a jutsu to cover you. He knew he'd get killed so decided to pass on those things to a clone which he spammed. Btw they didn't trick Obito and Sakura as they had only returned and were shocked. Also a more important point is Kaguya could see the seal, she didn't and was therefore nerfed for this "strategy."

Oh look, an employment of strategy, with the clever use of Amenominaka:

Using a move or there doesn't make you strategically sound, she got fooled by basic transformation jutsu amongst other things.

Kaguya isn't battle-hardened? When she was preparing an entire army to fight Otsutsuki coming after her? No she didn't and wasn't, she used her powers like a fodder, she couldn't see through a transformation jutsu or clones amongst other things. She was preparing an army because she was scared of losing her chakra. That in no way makes her am adept fighter.

I listed many examples followed by etc, showing a pattern. Spamming shadow clones to do something isn't strategic intelligence. Startegic intelligence is what Kakashi, non emo Sasuke, Shikamaru etc employ.

Naruto fought Orochimaru in Shippuden, he got bailed out against Kakazu, and against a drained pain, against Tobi etc. Try and understand the difference between spamming and startegy. And I repeat Naruto confirmed he wasn't strategically intelligent during Madara's fight.

As you've seen before, I have no problem conceding, but you're going to have to provide indisputable or otherwise substantial evidence. Because I can't continue a debate with someone using nothing but their words as a factual medium, without any evidence to back it up.Do you have any scans proving that Kakashi taught Naruto the strategy he implemented against Kakuzu? Scans contradictory to the scan I provided in which Kakashi literally stated that "Naruto came up with a new strategy".

(I'm not going to put it in spoilers anymore, because I don't think you're clicking them at this point)

First of all, I'd like to dismiss the claim that Naruto only spams clones to overwhelm his opponent

You must be registered for see images

Next, I want to ask a question. IS THAT NOT Naruto standing on the side and analyzing the situation, like you specifically said normal people do? I hate to quote Narutopedia, because they're frowned upon as an unreliable source of information, but they word this so well:

"Part of Kakashi's usual approach to combat is to rely on the Body Replacement Technique and clone techniques, thereby keeping himself out of harm's way while he observes an opponent and their abilities."

- Narutopedia

Kakashi employs a similar style, using evasion and misdirection to implement sneak attacks or to just analyze his opponents ability. But I guess Naruto is incapable of strategic intelligence.

Btw they didn't trick Obito and Sakura as they had only returned and were shocked.
I concede to this, because I don't feel like looking into it and it's probably true. But I will say that even Kakashi was surprised by HOW CUNNING NARUTO ALWAYS IS.

You must be registered for see images

Also a more important point is Kaguya could see the seal, she didn't and was therefore nerfed for this "strategy."

I'll need scans that Kaguya can see the seal, which you can probably get. Then I need scans that she didn't see the seal, and the only way you could do that is by proving that each clone of Naruto didn't come with a seal on it. If you can, I'll concede to this part of the argument.

Using a move or there doesn't make you strategically sound, she got fooled by basic transformation jutsu amongst other things.

Tricking your opponent by decoying yourself isn't strategically sound? Oof:

You must be registered for see images

No she didn't and wasn't, she used her powers like a fodder, she couldn't see through a transformation jutsu or clones amongst other things. She was preparing an army because she was scared of losing her chakra. That in no way makes her am adept fighter.

Kaguya is not adept to fighting. Okay, time to bring in the scans.

Reacting to Amenotejikara, which took JJ Madara off-guard:

Even manages to catch Sasuke faster than he can react:

You must be registered for see images

She reacts to and counters Sasuke's PS multiple times, and even dodges his blade (also keeping up with and besting Naruto in an exchange of punches):

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

Which of course has a combat speed relatively equivalent to So6p Naruto (and I'm sure you can understand how fast he is):

You must be registered for see images

She's even aware of the risks of her battle, and knows when and how to turn the tables (Oh look, once again she's employing strategy o.o funny how that works):

You must be registered for see images
You must be registered for see images

That's all I feel like posting right now. But I have even more, if you'd like. By your logical, any hit that Naruto and Sasuke get on her is a nerf on her part, taking into consideration that she's consistently faster than them and can see and strike an entire 360 degrees with her Byakugan.

I listed many examples followed by etc, showing a pattern. Spamming shadow clones to do something isn't strategic intelligence. Startegic intelligence is what Kakashi, non emo Sasuke, Shikamaru etc employ.

What you're doing is viewing strategy subjectively and using half-truths to validate an otherwise invalid opinion, applying the use of strategic intelligence in a way that's convenient to you, despite countless scans proving contrary.

Naruto fought Orochimaru in Shippuden
In that fight with Orochimaru he was being baited and let his emotions get the best of him, hence his transformation into KN4 Naruto.

he got bailed out against Kakazu
Still waiting for scans proving this. To be bailed out would mean that you're in a line of danger and someone has to save you. And even if he was bailed out, I don't see how that affects that he concocted a successful plan against someone with decades more experience than him, having even survived a fight with Hashirama. Just plot, right?

Try and understand the difference between spamming and strategy. And I repeat Naruto confirmed he wasn't strategically intelligent during Madara's fight.

Oh, I understand the difference between the two. I also understand that Naruto isn't as reckless or irrational as you're making him out to be. He might have said that he isn't battle smart (although I still want scans please), and I can say I don't have eyes, but that doesn't make it true, when the contrary has very consistently been shown otherwise.
