IT IS SAID IN THE MANGA THAT HAGOROMO AWAKENED THE RINNEGAN NOT BORN WITH IT , BLACK ZETSU SAID TO OBITO THAT THE ONLY ONES WHO AWAKENED THE RINNEGAN ARE MADARA AND RIKUDO SENNIN , So yeah its a mangafact and SP showed us it .Read the manga carefully next time

Hagoromo only researched it after they defeated her so he didn't know about its effects and immunity. Odds are she used it, and to their surprise, everyone was placed under it except for them. They didn't know about IT at the time until she used it on the world to reclaim her chakra.


I'd say it is either the TSB that allowed him to block it or the Tenseigan.
