If you read, thr manga and watch the movie you'll have more insight. The brother of Hagromo he acquired the Tenseigan from his mother Kaguya while his brother got the Rinnegan. He pretty much lived on the moon after helping seal his mother and defeat the juubi. After, he met with Hinata in her subcon and gave her his chakra/power like Hagromo did Naruto and Sasuke. Thats pretty much his story
