-CHAPTER TWO: CORE DROPPED-
"What do you think is on there?", asked Sarah.
Sam looked at her with an uncertain expression. "Weapons? Soldiers?...SUPER Soldiers..."
"You mean like us?"
"Yes, but more advanced. You've heard about Dr. Halsley?"
Sarah gasped. "Is she...d-....dead?"
"Some say it's just a rumor,...", reassured Sam, "but one thing's for certain: she's working on something BIG!".
The female spartan was curious. "Explain."
"You know all about AI's?"
"Of course!"
"Well apparently Halsley has got some secret AI project running in her lab. It's only a matter of time before either side gets to her. Let's just hope that Noble Team gets there first. And fast."
The Falcon slowly descends into the factory. Sam and Sarah leap out of the passenger turrets and leap onto a large boulder. Sam examines the area then contacts the General.
"Sir? We've made it."
The signal is a little bumpy, but the General makes out his message. "Spartans! Do you copy? We are under heavy fire! Move into the power plant and get those engines running! We need all the help we ca-...GAH!" The sound of gunfire and screams of helpless men come from the radio. The General speaks one more time. His voice is shaky. "Sp-spartans....help us." The signal drops.
Sam starts off in a mad dash for the plant. Sarah follows quickly.
"C'mon, Sarah! We have to move! The General needs us!"
"What is wrong?"
"I don't know, but whatever happened, it's not good."
The two descend some stairs to be confronted by a few Skirmishers.
"OPEN FIRE!", cried Sam.
The two shoot at the skirmishers with their Assault Rifles. Their shields break, and then die.
"Let's move, Sarah! We have to help them!"
As Sarah pulls ahead of Sam in the mad dash, an Elite General drops from an air shaft above. He pulls out two energy swords.
"Alright Sam, one sword for each of us!" She lunges at the Elite and fires into his back, while Sam aims for his front.
"Frailek Shnifro!", cried the Elite. He swings his swords at Sarah, but is soon attacked by Sam from the back. He turns to Sam, but Sarah retaliates and shoots his front. The Elite's shields break and he lunges off the side of the edge in a suicide attempt. Sam grabs a sniper rifle from a weapons crate, and snipes the falling Elite in the head, killing him before he hits the ground.
"Well done, Commander.", congratulated Sarah.
"We're not done yet, Sarah! We still have to reach the General!"
The sprint continues. Sam and Sarah eventually enter a large general control room with two switches in the middle. Around the middle control pillar are flashing, blue, electrical towers that reach 100 feet up in the air. In between the switches is the General's dead body, pinned to the wall by stakes. Flies buzz around his corpse.
"Damn. We were too late.", said Sarah.
Sam and Sarah walk up to the dead General, and obtain his dog tags. Sam turns to Sarah. "He's God's soldier, now." Sam turns back around to activate the switch, but an invisible Elite reappears in front of him. Sam and Sarah aim their guns to fire, but they soon notice 5 more Elites reappear from invisibility and surround the Spartans.
"Commander?", said Sarah worriedley. "Commander, what do we do now?"
There is no response from Sam.
"COMMANDER!"
