half life 3 will only be a mod. the storyline is beyond salvageable.

They tried with Portal but hey... that too just up and vanished. If they continued the story for Portal, maybe they couldve revived the HL series, until that happens, Half Life 3 will always be a fan fic

In all seriousness, I strongly doubt there will ever be another HL game. Waiting over 12 years to make another entry? Interest in the series is only declining. They'd make more sales from just having an entirely new IP, probably.
