It would make more sense if Hagoromo's brother or Kaguya came to Madara and he learned why him and Sasuke are so similar and the long lost brother's backstory.

Well since naruto is Ashuras reincarnation, we know that the uzumakis are definitely related to the Sage, may it be distant relatives or direct descendants. Also the byakugan is definitely related to them since kayuga had em. It wont make sense though if it had come from Hago lineage since his eyes are the sharingan. But, its all up to kishi. He could just say pretty much anything. Its his story, that means its up to him to give us a story that would make sense or would not.
