Hello guys ,I would like to talk about Hagoromo Ootsutsuki, The First Sage of six paths who defeated Ten tails in it's most powerfull form.
Samsara(Suffering) is defined as the continual repetitive cycle of birth and death that arises from ordinary beings' grasping and fixating on a self and experiences. Specifically, samsara refers to the process of cycling through one rebirth after another within the six realms of existence,[a] where each realm can be understood as either a physical realm or a psychological state characterized by a particular type of suffering. Samsara arises out of avidya (ignorance) and is characterized by dukkha (suffering, anxiety, dissatisfaction). In the Buddhist view, liberation from samsara is possible by following the Buddhist path.
There realms are: gods, demi-gods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts and hells
These six realms are typically divided into three higher realms and three lower realms: the three higher realms are the realms of the gods, demi-gods, and humans; the three lower realms are the realms of the animals, hungry ghosts and hell beings.

According to buddhism, The boddhistava can become buddha which also means breaking through Samsara(Suffering) cycle or repetitive cycle of rebirth and death by getting/reaching enlightment through all his efforts( in Sage's case: trying to make Mankind stronger, teaching about chakra to live in peace with nature and searching for way for eternal peace to finally occur... ) and even although he failed still he may reached Nirvana and became buddha which could make him immortal and almighty omniscient and omnipotent God as like The God in Christianity.
In the Buddhist view, beings can liberate themselves from samsara by following the Buddhist path. To attain liberation from samsara one must perfect the three higher trainings: self-discipline, meditative concentration, and the wisdom of emptiness.
I believe Sage of six paths named Hagoromo Ootsutsuki wasn't immortal while living like Human(boddhistava) but after he died(his human body from being too old), then He acquired immortality and became Buddha(Omnipotent and omniscient all knowing The God like in Christiany One God.)
This above is my theory if Kishi pattern Sage of six paths on buddhism. It would fit that Sage of six paths was boddhistava who tried to repair big mistake commited by his mother by making Mankind and The God Tree living in harmony again. However it is ironic because he is also main source of The God Tree being mad as he is son of Princess Kaguya, his mother who began it.
However there could be another case which could explain that Sage of six paths truelly died and gave up on his Immortality(thanks to reaching Nirvana) taking on mission to save every people from cycle of hate and bring finally peace to ther World, but he only could make this work if he gave up his Immortality and stayed in Samsara(Suffering) cycle being reborn into new flesh. Most likely then Naruto is Hagoromo Ootsutsuki's reincarnation.
The last case, Hagoromo may also keep his immortality while still staying in The living World... How ?
I believe that Sage of six paths after creating tailed beasts and sealing empty corpse of juubi into giant rock called The Moon, he foresaw that there will be time that Child of prophecy about who The Sage had his vision about and that some day he may need help of The Sage himself... so he divided his soul/chakra into nine parts and sealed each in each tailed beast, so only when someone will get trust from all tailed beasts getting their chakra in result then all Sage of six paths's parts of chakra merge with each other cause Sage of six paths ghost/avatar to appear inside this choosen one.
In short, Sage of six paths became truelly immortal by ascending to buddha after his death thanks to all efforts to save Mankind and bring everlasting peace to the World, but this is also possible that Sage of six paths gave up on his Immortality and accepted death(allowed himself to die) for greater good... which is saving all mankind from cycle of hatred and help people find out enlightment which could lead to everlasting peace. The later one could be due to staying in Samsara cycle or due to dividing and sealing himself in tailed beasts to return one day.
However If Kishi pattern Sage of six paths on Jusus Christ from the Christianity then is possible that The God of narutoverese took on human body while being born from human female: Princess Kaguya trying to save Mankind from The rage of The God Tree. However due to his human body his Godly power was limited so he had to acquire every power by himself only possesing God's knowledge, after his human body agged and died then His soul= The God ascended back into heaven as true immortal.

SUMMARY :
- Hagoromo Ootsutsuki aka Sage of six paths was boddhistava who following Buddhist's path got enlightment reaching Nirvana which allowed him to became Buddha getting immortality and omnipotence, omniscience. Everyhting thanks to his efforts for teaching Mankind about chakra... trying to make them live peacefully along with nature(The God Tree) also trying to find way to stop cycle of hatred.
- Sage of six paths could resigned from his immortality and accepted death for staying in Samsara cycle which allowed him to being reborn in another flesh/body after his death with purpouse to save Mankind from cycle of hatred and help them reach enlightment reaching to everlasting peace
- If Sage of six paths decided to say in The World... then he either divided his chakra/soul into nine parts and sealed them in each tailed beast to return one day or allowed death to reach him so he can be reborn into other body, for example as Naruto currently.
- Hagoromo Ootsutsuki can be also based on Jesus Christ from The Christianity aka The God himself being reborn in human body then dying and ressurecting himself going back into heaven.
