Hagoromo and Hamura didn't knew Kaguya was part of the Juubi in the manga but in the anime arc they saw Kaguya fusing with the Tree.

saying that he got his eyes doesn't actually mean he has his eyes.

rinnegan gives a person to access 6 paths and MS can to some extent.
remember, doujutsu was something new and Indra is a 2nd gen dojutsu user, Hagoromo being the 1st.

the only viable scan is the one that states "awakening the rinnegan" bit, but that too is sketchy.

rinnegan wasn't a thing until Hagoromo's birth. He was expected to have byakugan like his mother and yet he obtained the rinnegan.

The reason why Indra got the sharingan instead of the rinnegan was that the chakra became diluted with pleb genes so we can expect that that was the case with the rinnegan as well.

I doubt that they actually have to unlock it in order to get it as their chakra is the most potent one (Kaguya wasn't born with 10tails chakra)

It's really crappy writing that they would have pleb eyes and have to unlock it by conventional means instead of just being born with them.

Weren't episodes 464, 465 and 466 considered fillers? Why are they canon now?This is one of those things that can't be discussed. Naruto Manga was always in the lead and considered canon, the anime always followed.
