his mom was the first to have chakra since she ate the fruit, so his dad never did. he inherited it from his mom and so did his brother. so they are the relevant characters in the story about ninja's. his dad is of no importance to the story at this point. that's why he is not mentioned.
perhaps later in the story, something will be revealed, but I doudbt it. that way it would never end, because then people will wonder about their parrents and grandparrents and so on and so forth. there has to be an end at some point or we will never get to the conclusion of this war.
