I will bitterly say that "I called it" many months ago in .

That said, I agreed back in February with OP and I agree now. Sage is evil, Naruto and Hashirama were just puppets used to enable a transdimensional dictator. I think Madara and Sasuke will try to kill Hagoromo, having seen through his plan. Naruto will be confused and not take sides at first. Edo Hokage get overwritten.

Final boss is probably Orochimaru and/or the sage. The tablet is just some propaganda the Sage used to justify his own crap. A lot of Naruto has been about the embracing of Shintoism over Buddhism if you really get down to it.

The Sage, as the embodiment of Buddhism, is essentially the final villain. Kishimoto is absolutely making a religious and social statement with this manga. Let's keep in mind, it's obviously directed at an Asian audience (read: Japanese) and not the American/Euro audience on these forums.

My thoughts having lived in Japan for 3 years.

Well even in Buddhist terms Hagoromo is "evil" since the use of external power (Chakra) to achieve enlightenment (peace) is called the Outer Path heresy (hence the Rinnegan has the Outer Path connotations) in direct opposition to the Inner Path which is the true path to enlightenment in Buddhist Orthodoxy.

I also had this sinister feeling during 690. Something felt off, it all just seems too easy. Like for example Naruto saying: "The sealing is complete. And that's a wrap! The end! Let's celebrate!" Kaguya not getting a flashback also strikes me as weird. And for some reason I read Hagoromo's: "Congratulations on saving the world" in a sarcastic tone.

But we could also of course be totally wrong in our theories on Hagoromo being a douche :)

Hamura's absence from the legend does seem strange and so is Hagoromo's face in the last panel of the current chapter. It looks like something you can't trust.
Yeah I agree, his whole persona just seems suspicious.
I don't think he'll turn out evil, but that's the first sane argument I've found on the subject, nice job.
lol thanks man, I hope Kishi goes through with it, if none of this is addressed I will cry lol.

lol, nice call, hopefully Kishi goes through with it. I pretty much agree with everything you had to say, and I was thinking perhaps Kishi might make it that Hagoromo is essentially the "False Savior", and Naruto instead becomes the first "Enlightened One."

Good point, perhaps the "It's a wrap"/etc. was included to act as an Ironical Foreshadowing of said events about to occur. I also saw the VIZ scans and I think Hagoromo said something along the lines of "Excellent work saving the world..." which kinda gives me the impression of something bad is about to happen or as you nicely mentioned sarcasm lol.

In general:
I want to ask you guys your opinions on Hamura's staff.
It looks like a Triple Cross [ ]. I couldn't find any direct relations with something specific compared to Hagoromo having a khakkhara. What do you think it represents?

To relate it was this thread; I was thinking it's possible Kishi is incorporating some "Christian" references here? If Hagoromo did kill Hamura, that I guess he essentially "betrayed" the one known for the "Cross", kinda Judas like perhaps, or actually more-so like Cain and Abel as well. Maybe then Hagoromo would resemble the "False Savior" and Naruto the "True Savior" (even has the cross in his Rikudou eyes) for defeating said villain/Hagoromo, and then staying true to his word to "Save the Hyuuga" via avenging Hamura (Not saying he will kill Hagoromo). Maybe he'll go beyond this and make a bond with the Hyuuga (good vows, marriage, etc.)to honor that promise as well, if that makes any sense. I know Kishi likes Eastern Philosophies, but perhaps he's incorporating a tint of Christianity as well.

Kishimoto went to great pains to portray Hagoromo as an out-of-touch old man when he first met Naruto. He then quickly adapted to meet Naruto's expectations. That alone seems creepy as balls. I think this thread is spot on. Hagoromo is hiding something big.

Mind blown after reading. I like especially enjoyed the last parts. Concerning Itachi's quote on perception of reality.

Very good theory, I also agree on the part that after Kaguya was defeated last week I had the feeling that not everything had ended and that there is evil still to be handled.
Its a very weird premonition and its very likely that there will be another villain and it might be Hagoromo like you say. Cause this story ended way too HAPPY.

Awesome hypothesis. I think this is very likely. Hagoromo has been hiding information about Hamura, secrets don't really happen unless there is a hidden agenda.

I also believe that the tools belong to Hamura. There is a lot of information supporting Hamura being the Uzumaki (and of course Hyuuga) clan ancestor. The fact that the tools are all used for sealing, combined with the fact that the Uzumaki clan was known for sealing jutsu supports this.

Biggest hole in Hagoromo's story is this:

How did he get his brother's moon mark? My guess is Sauce met Hamura's spirit separately and got the lowdown. Kaguya was sealed as a threat to the world. Sasuke's cooperation ends now. The catalyst for Sasuke vs. Naruto will be Sasuke not sharing his intel with Naruto, and Sasuke murdering Kurama and the Sage of the Six Paths in cold blood.
