Had Itachi not given any information to the Leaf...

So we know Itachi was supposed to give information about the Leaf to the Uchiha, but instead, did the opposite. If he would have actually fulfilled his task for the Uchiha would they have been able to take over the Leaf?

This would mean that he could have lied to the Elders about what was really going on, like he did to the Uchiha.

I actually think they could have. The village would be unprepared and Itachi + Shisui could have taken care of the Elders.

Why would he do that when he was against it? If he did do that, there would be an internal war of all or a majority of the village ninja against the Uchiha. From an internal war , as obito explained, other villages would take the chance to attack a weakened Leaf village in its volatile state. Balance is upset, then we have a Great ninja war

Nah the Uchihas would have lost the Leaf forces would have overwhelm them and Tobi wanted to take down the leaf he didn't give a crap about the Uchihas so he had no reason to help them.

I know he was against it, but the only reason the elders knew about the coup was because Itachi told them about it... wasn't it?

The Uchiha coup would never have succeeded. It would only lead to unnecessary deaths, and Itachi knew that, so he decided to prevent a civil war that could have potentially left Konoha weakened enough to be attacked by other villages and destroyed, by taking out his own clan.

Itachi was a a part of root, so he knew what was going on. Root also only knew limited information, that's why they used Itachi to gain more information.Yeah, I had completely forgotten about that Itachi's MS. Also, the point of it that is that it wouldn't be an all out war, it would be what the village did to them.

Yeah, that's how I imagined it. Itachi giving them the information and them using it to their advantage with Shisui and Obito.

What would KA do though? It was a one-shot that Shisui could use once every ten years and cause his MS to go on cooldown. Who would he want to control with it and use to aid them against the village? (I know that KA would help, but I just don't see it making a significant difference.)
