| Abilities: Hōzuki Clan Techniques and Nature Transformation: As a member of the Hōzuki clan, Mangetsu is proficient in the use of Water Release nature manipulation and can use his clan's main secret technique to liquefy his body at will. It can also be assumed that he is also versed in his clan's other secret techniques that revolve around the use of the Hydrification Technique. Kenjutsu: Mangetsu was a very gifted swordsman, having been accepted into the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. According to his younger brother, Suigetsu, he was called the "Second Coming of the Demon" (Kijin no Sairai), which so happens to be the same nickname that Suigetsu himself shares. |

| History: Mangetsu was born in Kirigakure and was reputed alongside his brother, Suigetsu, to be the incarnation of the demon Zabuza Momochi. Both Mangetsu and Suigetsu trained with the intention of becoming members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist together. This dream acted as their motivation for them both to complete cruel missions day by day. Mangetsu eventually succeeded in becoming a member of the Seven Swordsmen, mastering all seven of the swords before his death. His premature death seemingly changed the motivations of Suigetsu. As one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Mangetsu was one of the most powerful shinobi produced within Kirigakure. Mangetsu's generation of swordsmen was even noted to be the strongest in the village's history.

| Ninja Tools: Hiramekarei The weapon itself features an enormous wide and flat blade with two indentations near its base, creating a sort of guard, and two handles connected to each other by a short length of cord, earning it the title of "twinsword". The overall sword looks like a flounder fish in shape. When unleashed, it emits chakra from the holes found at the top which coats the entire blade.

Hiramekarei's Abilities: The blade, and especially the two holes at the tip of the blade, are capable of emitting chakra on command, which can then be formed into various weapons, including a hammer or a longer sword. The size of the resulting weapon appears to depend upon the amount of chakra stored up beforehand, meaning a larger quantity will be met with a similar increase in the weapon's ultimate size. However, regardless of the weapon's dimensions, the emission and subsequent formation of the chakra always occurs with astounding speed. Choujuro was able to create an extremely wide sword, which was even long enough to cut Zetsu instantly in half who was standing around 8 meters away from him. It is a black dagger designed for thrusting and stabbing, though it can still do some damage if thrown despite not being designed for it, and is about the length of one's hand. Many ninja attack by attaching an exploding tag to the blade. The kunai is usually thrown so that it lodges in an object near the target, and then the explosion from the attached tag destroys said target. They can be used for close combat, like a normal knife.

This standard ninja tools is very basic and used in most ninja fights. A shuriken is a throwing star which can be used as a distraction during a fight. While not considered extremely deadly, these can pose a threat when used in conjuntion with explosive tags, ninja wire, or jutsu.

Smoke bombs are typically used to blind opponents and make them easier to attack. Alternatively, ninja can use smoke bombs on themselves so that opponents cannot see what they are doing.
Small bombs that can blind the opponent temporarily. These are often used by Nara clan members to increase the size of their shadow during a fight.
Exploding tags are scraps of paper inscribed with a special writing, centering around the kanji for "explode". Infused with chakra, they will explode after a set amount of time, remotely, or after being ignited by flame. The tags can be attached to a surface or wrapped around a weapon to be thrown at an enemy. They are very versatile and one of the basic ninja tools. Ninja can confuse their enemies by obtaining fake exploding tags. They work even under heavy rain. When an exploding tag is detonated remotely, ninja use the "Snake" hand seal. Similarly, when used remotely, exploding tags can be detonated in sequence, allowing them to be used to trap opponents.
