Gyoku, just like any Inuzuka, has canine teeth, but he does everything to hide it. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has a average young-adult body build, and it's not that strong, nor fast.
He wears a normal civilian suit, with (generally) brown coat, black pants and grey shoes.
Personality
Gyoku is kind and altruist. He loves his dog, Kinmaru. He, for being a war orphan, wants peace in the world. He is rebel, going against the Ninja Government, to the point of abandoning the Inuzuka Clan and Konohagakure, just to roam free in the world, together with Kiiromaru. At the very deep, he regrets for having abandoned the clan and the village, but he doesn't seem to admit it to himself.
Although he abandoned his ninja life, if someone challenges him for a battle, he very difficultly refuses.

Gyoku Inuzuka was born in Konohagakure in the ending days of the 2nd Shinobi World War to the Inuzuka Clan. His mother was a Medical Ninja of Konoha Medical Corps from an unknown clan and his father was a Inuzuka Clan member and one of the Third Hokage's right-hand men.
When he was 5-year old, as tradition to the Inuzuka clan members, a little puppy was given to him. For the goldish colour of the puppy, he named him Kanemaru. Around that time, however, the Third Shinobi World War started, and his parents went to the battlefield. Left by himself, Gyoku spent a lot of time training in company of Kanemaru, being one of his class' top student.
However, everything turned bad on his 8 year birthday. After a Gatsuuga train with Kanemaru, a Konoha-nin arrived at the clan's "town". The Konoha-nin gave him the news of his father death in the battlefield. When he asked about his mother, Gyoku was answered with a 'She can't come back now. She's healing people in the battles.' from the Konoha-nin.
Crying, Gyoku sat down on his bed. He wanted to calm down the world. Put it at peace. But how he could find peace in the world if he couldn't find it in himself?
One year after, when the war was near its end, he received another sad news. His mother was dead.
Since then, he had been training harder and harder with Kanemaru to forget his inner pain. He trained so much he became his class' top student.
After a lot of years of training, he became a Genin with 11 years and a Chunin with 14.

When asked why he did it, he answered that if the Konoha-nin had caught them, they would had talked easily his village's intel. Killing them, he was preserving his village's secrets. After laughing at the Konoha-nin fear face, he laughed and then said that a ninja should put his mission first instead of his comrades and even himself lives, before killing himself with his own sword.
When Gyoku arrived at home, he looked into the mirror.
If a ninja had to put his mission first, he didn't wanted to be a ninja anymore. His comrades was most important than any mission for him.
Solemnly, he took out his hitaiate and threw it on the trash can. He erased his clan's mark on the cheeks. He took out his ninja clothes and wore a civilian cloth.
He looked deeply on Kanemaru's eyes and asked him if he wanted to accompany him. Kanemaru, being a loyal friend, agreed.
To frustrate the Inuzuka Clan, Gyoku changed his surname from Inuzuka to Matatabi and abandoned the village.
He's still wandering, adrift, with Kanemaru at his side. Despite he had abandoned his ninja life, if someone challenge him to fight, his Inuzuka blood boils and he accepts without argue.

Dog Partner
Gyoku's dog partner is named Kanemaru. Kanemaru was a newborn puppy when the Inuzuka Clan gave him to Gyoku. Because ninken lives more than average dogs, Kanemaru is now 21 years old. He has a brownish-gold fur with vivid blue eyes. Because of past fights, he has a diagonal scar across his left front leg.

Trivia
- Gyoku (玉) means 'ball' or 'sphere', Matatabi (又旅) means 'catnip'. Gyoku changed his surname to Matatabi to frustrate the Inuzuka Clan just because of the herb association with cats.
- Kanemaru (金丸) means 'golden perfection' or 'golden circle'. He was named at this way because of his golden fur.
