Hashirama managed to trick Madara with a wood clone. Gai might go all out and it might just have been a wood clone. Also remember when Kabuto was hit with a rasengan and wasn't damaged? He said he had begun to heal the area of impact before it hit. Hashi is even better at medical ninjutsu. Not to mention Madara had time for a counter attack but instead he wasted it complimenting Gai and saying Don't you have another technique? This is fun. I don't think Hashi will be that careless
