Like His legs are so beyond fυсked up that he has to be in a wheelchair? He shouldn't even be alive at all.

If you had paiddd attention to part 1 , where Tsunade healed Rock lee.. and that was only after he had 5 gates opened, he only had 50% chance to survive the surgery.. Gai went to 8th Gate.. where he was already supposed to Die.. The mere fact he is alive, is already good enough.
