You can see the effects of using the third gate there, and with the prior gates there's no chakra aura or anything like that formed.

Maybe Gai's seemingly normal state is already the last gate, instead of some horrific transformation the user of the eighth gate may look harmless, almost normal in their form. The green aura has me wondering, as that's a product of the seventh gate.
