Guy is probably faster than A

Until now everyone believed A (and Naruto) to be the fastest shinobi, but that was mainly due to Raikage's self-hype and self-hype (and hype in general) has been shown to be unreliable many times in the series.

Now, I have no proof that Guy is, in fact, faster than A, but everything indicates so.

Gaara, who saw A fight all out against Madara, was astonished by Guy's speed and commented on how he wasn't sure if his movements are human at all.
I think this is a good hint that 7-gated Guy is faster than Raikage.

And even if he isn't, A's speed almost surely pales in comparison to 8-gated Guy.

Yea he is when he uses forbidden jutsu that's a double edged sword. As we're Ay uses his own speed without tapping into the 8 gates limit breakers. After guy dies Ay once again will be faster than him.

How do you know Raikage would survive Guy's 7-gated rampage, though?
Raikage relies on his speed and strength. Guy is better at both (well, certainly stronger, while the speed is the topic of this discussion), the only advantage Raikage may have over him is adding raiton damage.

Logically speaking guy would be faster because he ignites air off of speed and destroys the ground from movement. The only big thing is that guy's massive speed is more like a shushin burst, while Ay's v1 speed is pretty much constant high speed motion that last as long as his chakra does.

I agree 7 Gates Gai > Faster than A

When Gai rushed him, Madara's face looked even more surprised than when A rushed him with the help of Midget-Kage's lightening jutsu. And Madara wasn't nearly as strong then. So yeah, makes sense.

But if he's not faster in 7 gates then he most likely will be in 8 gates, because he wouldnt stand a chance against Madara if he wasn't faster then A.

I still don't know why gai is not hyped to be the fastest I think 7th gate gai and v2 ay should be around the same speed with ay having more reaction and defence but gai with faster handspeed and better attack.

He's not known as much as A. He's a jonin, while A is the Raikage. Of course he and Kakashi are two jonin more powerful than any of the current kage, but still, he probably doesn't need to resort to the last gates on his missions, so it's logical his speed wouldn't be as famous as A's.

^^This actually. Gai had always faster striking speed (being able to create fire from speed of strikes), which was unmatched. Now he has superior foot speed too.
