Greatest Naruto Character

Jiraiya!

He taught Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko Ninjutsu when Orochimaru/Tsunade wanted them dead.
He taught the strongest Konoha-produced ninja (Minato Namikaze).
Taught Naruto Uzumaki, the main character.
He's not gay unlike Orochimaru, Sasuke, and Naruto others!
Died helping the Leaf Village defeat Nagato Uzumaki with his code.
Took the initiative and kept contact with Akatsuki's goals --Itachi was probably his source.

This is just my pick. Who is yours and why?

I choose Jiraiya as well. He's my 2nd favorite character behind Naruto. He's also done alot of good things that have changed the ninja world for the better.

Jiraiya is an amazing character, for sure. The guy is awesome!

I pick Naruto, just because he is who he is. A lot of people hate Naruto, but... Anyway...

-He's a perfectly flawed main character. Reckless, stubborn, sometimes foolish...
-He's keeping Jiraiya's teachings and dream alive - which, really, someone definitely needs to.
-He doesn't give up even when others do, even on a lost cause like, for example, Sasuke.
-He's probably the most honest character in the show.
-The guy practically bleeds charisma.

There are a lot of amazing characters in Naruto; I can't say who the actual greatest is. It's all about opinions. I doubt Naruto is the greatest, but he's my favorite, anyway.

Shikamaru.

I've always found him to be an interesting character. Always. I think the fact that he's a laid back (Or lazy >.>) character is just fine. He's able to be serious at the right times.

Here come the Sasuke and Itachi fans..
Other than that, Jiraiya fits in pretty well. If I had to choose another one, it would be Hiruzen Sarutobi. This is because he was the teacher of the legendary sannin, who grew up to be powerful and extremely skilled shinobi, and also because he died saving his village.

He did so much before he died and still doing stuff even after he died.
He joined Anbu at a young age
He killed the entire Uchiha clan (excluding Sasuke and maybe Tobi)
Joined Akatsuki and was one of it's most strongest members
Brilliant Strategist
Caught a Disease (Haven't heard of any other Ninja doing that...Lolz JK xd)
Never really thought about it like that but Itachi could have been one of Jiraiyas info sources
Broke Edo Tensei control
And he's just really cool

Orochimaru,greatest villain ever. Not even Tobi can match his geniusness and accomplishments.

I never liked Jiraiya, and I never understood why people liked him.

He was a pervert. He possessed every one of the ninja vices. He talked a big game before all his battles and never delivered anything more than a Ginyu Pose. He stood idle while Sasuke was put in to a coma by Itachi. He advised Naruto to give up on his friend.

He left the Rinnegan in a war zone. He decided to hunt down Pain alone. He stayed to fight Pain when he could have escaped. He thought it necessary to encode "the real one isn't there" like Pain or anyone being able to read that would matter in the slightest.

His one redeeming feature was realizing what a failure he was, and then he lost even that before he died.

Of course,it's just my opinion.

And what has Orochimaru ever accomplished? He got his ass whooped by two sharingan users and had trouble with a guy almost in his 70s. I'm sorry but nothing Orochimaru has shown has been impressive. Of course this is all my opinion.

Aw come on, everybody pales in comparison to the fourth lord. As a shinobi his capacity was unparalleled, a true one-of-a kind.

Minato because he seems to have one of the biggest reputations in the Naruto world plus he's had a big influence: fighting Tobi, making Naruto a jinchuuriki, sealing himself and Kushina inside of Naruto to help him out, encounter with Bee and A, teaching Kakashi, helping to inspire Jiraiya (book related stuff), rasengan, etc.
after him Hiruzen because he's incredibly powerful and wise but he always wants to take the peaceful route. He was opposed to eliminating the Uchiha, always talks about how the village is his family, taught the sannin and I think influenced Minato a lot when he was the 4th, and died for his village.
and then Kakashi just because he's kinda badass
