Musashi pierced through the stormwall into another area of the cedar forest, its towering trees growing...which was astonishing, considering the state of the areas of the storm not far away. It seemed this area was in the eye of the hurricane that raged, and managed to grow.
But, trees didn't grow overnight, and while its possible the eye of the storm just had not passed over this stretch of land yet, with what Musashi had seen from sea, it was almost like...the storm wasn't moving? Perplexing. Was the storm itself supernatural, conjured by something?
Either way, the reprieve from the rain was well welcomed, and Musashi could actually sense quite a bit of vibrant life in the area. It seemed much of the fauna had chosen to make itself at home here, in this pocket of safety; not that Musashi could blame them, as she was essentially doing the same thing.
She took the opportunity to dry herself and her things as she scoped out this small area, adding it to her notes and map as she did so; the most astounding thing, was the sheer size of the animals! Wild boars could grow to be incredibly large creatures, but this was something else! She was passed by a monstrous boar, whom she barley came up to the ankle of. It was unbelievable! At first, she steeled herself for combat, as boars could be ferocious creatures...but it hardly gave Musashi more than a passing glance. Maybe she was too small for it to be interested in her?
It did not take Musashi long, using her soul-sensing, to find a few other animals: squirrels, birds, even a bear: and they were all proportionally massive. It was incredible - it was like the pocket of the forest housed veritable giants.
Luckily, nothing seemed to pay her much mind, but even that was noteworthy. The animals here were not quite tame, more like...lax? As if they had no need to fear for their safety, or hunt for prey. More things to add to her notes.
As she recounted these things, watching the creatures lumber about below as she sat on a tree branch, she couldn't help but think that her notes thus far sounded like mad ramblings, or someone writing a fantasy story about a fantastical land beyond the furthest reaches of the map...but, here she was, and even she wouldn't believe it had she not seen it with her own two eyes.
Gathering her things, though, she decided to continue onwards. There was, after all, more to explore.
