Graphic Equalizer questions

Hey I just went into my computers settings and when at my Graphic Equalizer decided to turn up all the frequencies to the max. This is because I already like the neutral effect my sound is at, but by turning them up I am hoping it will even further pronounce everything (focus, treble, bass, etc.)- so my questions are these:

1. Does turning all frequencies all they way up help everything? Or is it just the same as them all at the middle, just louder?
2. Can this burn out my audio system/headphones faster? I have N-ergy headphones and a beats laptop cool
3. Anything else helpful you'd like to add?

Well I'm ding it right now and it sounds wonderful. Like straight up glorious.
So it won't cause any damage? And all sounds will be evenly represented? That's what I'm really asking here... I mean everything is still even like usual, this time it's just even at 100% instead of 50%. I keep it even cause I listen to so many different types of music.

No they will not what? No damage will occur or everything won't be represented properly.
Please understand, the ratio isn't changing. Before I had everything at 50%. Now I have everything at 100%. If I don't change the ratio, why should there be any problem? Aren't I just pronouncing each frequency more, in effect adding extra volume?
Please tel me why that's best if I intend to keep everything at a 1:1 ratio.

The sounds won't be represented correctly. And if you're using speakers depending on how loud the over all volume is u might do damage/ blow them.


It's dependant on what program you're using.

Usually it's not at "50%" but 0. And can be moved up or down by 10 or 5

Apologies. I'm talking about a equalizer.

It's usually set at 0db(think that stands for decibels) and can go up or down by 10(+10 db to -10 db)

And the different levels are for different frequencies.

Alright, I can take care of the volume. I have no intention to damage my ears/my systems. I am using either N-ergy earbuds or Beats audio in my HP Envy usually.

Can you please explain to me how everything isn't fully represented any different than at "0". If everything is at "0" or if all frequencies are at "10" why should it mis-represent any sounds if the ratio remains the same? (Once more I want all sounds represented equally none extra, simply because I listen to so much different music.)

I listen to rap and r&b alot so I have the 910hz the 4k hz and the 16 k(I believe I'm not sure) can't really check while I type)
Above 0 (between 0 and 10 not nearly at 15) to increase bass it would look like a rising slope.

The other three is also above 0 but between 0 and 5. In a falling slope.

Altogether it looks like a really wide v, but tbh it's better to figure it out yourself.
Mines has 6 frequencies you can adjust. And the latter three usually effect bass, drums, and high hats while the former effects vocals, strings, and mid to high pitch woodwinds.


If you're really that concerned max out 1 or 2 at a time and see what does what.

No it's not. Either you have different settings for different genres or leave it alone. Maxing it out sounds horrible.

Well I like the way it sounds on my headphones (which are high-performance). I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't cause any extra wear by maxing out frequencies. Thanks

Oh God no, it will sound like a distorted crackly mess.

Pretending I never saw "N-Ergy", "Beats" and "" in the same sentence, I'll ask where these equalizer settings are? I don't believe Windows has such settings built in so I suppose it was a program?
