"Rinnegan" translates literally to "wheel around the eye" (the wheel pattern... makes sense)
"Sharingan" translates literally to "Copy wheel eye" (when Kakashi first uses sharingan, it is a copy technique that spins in a wheel around his eye)
"Hinata" means "sunny place"
Didn't get much else of interest, and I thought I'd share. Enjoy! if you find more interesting things please post or comment! sharing is good!

Yes, and Itachi means skunk, Shika in Shikamaru means deer, Neji means screw and so on, and so on. The only problem is that all this names in Naruto are written in katakana which Japanese mostly use to write foreign names and words. If they where written in Kanji like Japanese usually write their names, than we could know their true meaning.

For example, protagonist of Bleach is named Ichigo. Ichigo means strawberry in japanese, and there where many jokes in manga/anime about that. But Ichigo's name in kanji is written 一護(1.一 ichi-means one, 2.護 mamoru -means guard, defend, protect, shelter) unlike 苺 which is the kanji for Strawberry, so his actual name has completely different meaning.
