Before Shiro came about in the series, Poseiden was a residence on the Oro Jackson aka Roger's ship.

You can see it being used to attack Shiki's ship (the mermaid figurine).

Shiro wasn't around during Rogers time.

It's possible that the mermaid on the ship was once alive mermaid princess, but it being a royal blooded whatever is also an assumption as well.

Unless you have a scan stating that Poseidon has to be an alive mermaid-royal blood princess, I won't argue with that part.

But it's possible that the mermaid on Rogers ship was alive and a royal blooded princess

Poseidon is a ability which only royal mermaids possess like shirahoshi

Poseidon refers to the 'incarnation' of the queen of the sea kings and with that the ability to control them, currently that's Shirahoshi and she was born several years after Roger died. The previous queen lived 8-9 centuries ago, so it's impossible for her to have been on the Oro Jackson and that picture is nothing more than the bow of the ship.

Again are you doing this on purpose or what?

Again that's the bow of the ship, plain decoration, nothing more. This is a fact. Why the hell would Roger hang a real mermaid on his ship? He can't use any kind of ancient weapon's powers himself as far as we know. The only thing that has been confirmed, is that he knew the location of at least one weapon. Shiki even specifically asked about it, implying that it's not there present during the battle. Poseidon was not alive during Roger's era and other mermaids are just other mermaids, so hanging one on the bow is just absurd and pointless.

That sword is what it is: a sword. He is leading the charge, everyone behind him is likewise wielding their weapons including many swords =/
