i don't want that to happen . but i guess it will happen bc everything that was around roger is now around luffy.

i think it was from the stress of major battles and keep going to the next. like at the prison luffy get poisoned the iva healed him but said this will take years off your life. then he does it again at the war. how many years off his life did that cause him.
think roger and wb and luffy will and where plagued by the strains they put on their bodies.
but for chopper to be the best doctor he will need laws fruit. law can heal stuff like the kids when chopper can only make medicine. so think if something happens to luffy both will be needed.

Given the fact that Sengoku, Rayleigh as well as Garp are as old as Whitebeard and are still kicking , ya he was sick.

OT: May be he was too careless like Luffy. He might have fought and did things that would cause harm to his health without caring about himself which ultimately lead him towards an incurable diseases which would have resulted in certain death. I am totally positive about Luffy facing same kind of fate but this time he'd get saved by Chopper with which Chopper will become greatest doctor or something.
