[Theory] Gol D Roger had the Gomu-Gomu Fruit

Guys, wats up? This is a very small theory. I hope you enjoy it

I say, that Gol D Roger did have a DV, and it was the Gomu-Gomu aka Rubber fruit. Now i shall state my reasons why i believe this is:

- First off, we all know that "when a devil fruit user dies, the devil fruit appears again somewhere in the world". :yeah:?

It is not a stretch to say that the pirate king had it because we all know Shanks was a member of the roger pirates. So like he could've wanted to find his captain's "devil fruit" when it re-surfaced to treasure it or something. Similar to why Luffy now wants the Mera Mera No Mi.

- Then we see luffy eating it. Can it be a coincidence? Protagonist accidentally eats a DV which was previously owned by the former pirate king?

Actually when a devil fruit user dies their fruit regrows on the nearest fruit tree. This was proven when smiley died in the Punk hazard arc.

I think someone would have told him by now. Roger was famous around the world.
If Roger did have the Rubber Fruit, everyone would have known. So either someone would have told Luffy or said somehting along the lines of 'He has the same fruit as the Gol D Roger' once they saw it in action.

Not a bad theory though.

Would be a bad move of Oda if Roger had it and we didn't get to know. Roger was one of the most famous people so during the war where a lot of people from his generation were present no one commented on Luffy having same fruit as Roger if he now had one.

Firstly, I know Luffy shares similarities with Roger more than Roger shares with his own son, BUT, it doesn't mean they should be exactly alike.

Secondly, Rayleigh reminisced about Roger, and showed us that Luffy's hat , was once Roger's. And due to this, he would've also said something about Luffy only possessing his Captains hat, but his Captains power (if it were true).

Thirdly, one could argue that if Goda showed us Roger also had rubber powers, it would be a huge spoiler, BUT, when would there be a better chance to show us he had rubber powers than the time we found out Luffy's hat was worn by Roger???

Also, Roger is shown to be a man of muscular figure yet when we were shown his "rookie" days, he was the same built as Luffy, meaning, if he was a rubberman prior to meeting Rayleigh, his body wouldn't grow (excluding height). Nor would his body grow if he consumed it later in his life.

Another thing is if Roger had it, Garp would've told Luffy about it. due to continuously fighting Garp (and at times, "taken to the brink of death") Even Sengoku/Gorosei would've commented about one more similarity between those two (aside from the " D. "). Hell, Gan Fal said something about Luffy having Rogers name, so why wouldn't he say anything about his power?

Furthermore, Roger having the fruit would be one of the biggest cliche' moments in OP. Period. Why? Because what is more cliche' than the former PK being a rubberman and the main protagonist also being a rubberman? And Goda does not incorporate anything cliche' in his work.

What's more is that (IMO) the only reason Shanks had that DF, is because DF's are worth HUGE amounts of money. And hence why Shanks was pissed (not only because Luffy ate it) but because he just "ate" his jackpot.

Lastly, it would be better off if he didn't have a DF whatsoever OR, if he should have one, the King-King fruit would be much more suffice and content.

This is nothing more than a wild gamble. Using that logic Roger could have had almost any kind of DF. If he really had the rubber fruit, by now someone should have mentioned it as it's impossible no one knew that Roger had that DF. It should have been extremely famous, still more than one person laughed or was not impressed by Luffy's fruit.

Shanks and Rayleigh have both stated that Roger & Luffy share the same view on things.

I think it attaches itself to the nearest matching fruit, not just any fruit. The more rare the power, the rarer the fruit, imo.
