I don't think Gohan will be on the sidelines after seeing what Freiza was capable of. an Goku and Vegeta can't be in all battles because of the level of powers. Gohan i think will have a great roll in coming back.

Remember that kabito kai and his elder are on good terms with Gohan and could go for more of that mystic training alond with Whiss tranind him later to be a god himself.

Mystic SSG Gohan would be something Vegeta an Goku would have to look out for. Gohan's hidden potential far surpass Goku and Goku stated it himself in the cell games ( If i remember correctly, it's been awhile) so to me Gohan just might take a hell of a roll.

But i suppose only time will tell!.
