Just watched in 3D and it's f*cking terrible. So many teases... was that actually hollywood's representation of mothra? smh

I had to watch it in 3d cause my friends couldn't make it to the regular screening so we watched it in 3d. Even the trailers before Godzilla was more entertaining. Yes my jimmies were rustled if you're asking. =_=

While I respect your opinion, I must say your complaints are invalid since;

  1. Mothra was never suppose to be the creature in the movie. They were an original creation and done pretty well.
  2. Godzilla was suppose to be teased throughout the movie. Months before it was even released, the director said that himself, so basically it's your fault for entering with unreal expectations.
  3. Who the hell watches films in 3D?
  4. The movie was 100x better than the shit made in 1998, and it was refreshing to see Godzilla in his rawest form.

Lool @Mothra

I agree tho. It seemed like we were waiting throughout the whole film to 'see' Godzilla' properly.

Nah.. I wasn't impressed at all; it was 'forgettable.

They should have made this movie include more interaction with Godzilla, just like the Original Godzilla movies used to.

I heard it was really good.... I'm not sure what to believe anymore.
Trust me. It does not live up to the hype. I am not even joking, Godzilla appears only at the last 10-15 minutues of the movie. Until then you get pathetic teases that are missed out opportunities.
That's not what sales are showing. I personally liked it.
Sales don't mean anything.

1. It's obviously an inspiration and it was handled poorly. It seemed to be the main focus than Godzilla itself.
2. Oh so I'm at fault for not doing further "research" about the movie? Most people in the theaters probably never even knew that. Even if that's the case it's still a stupid move.
3. Read the original post and you'll find out.
4. Anything is much better than that movie. It's not much of a feat. to brag about. l0l

I agree with this points , from the responses I'm reading , people don't know what a build up is or can't handle it & don't know the Godzilla origins , movie delivered 110% .

It was really good.

People are only complaining because it wasn't like Pacific Rim where there was a monster battle every 5 minutes.

The purpose of the movie was to tease Godzilla, to make it seem ominous. It was a lot closer to the original japanese film and so was its design.

It wasn't supposed to be some gimmicky monster skirmish movie, but instead portray them as terrifying creatures like Jurassic Park did with the T-Rex.

The movie was great!

Mothra? What are you, dumb? Just because of this thread, I'm dropping One Piece again.

Their abilities aren't even the same. The only thing slightly similar about Mothra and M.U.T.O is that the male one can fly. Also, the female one had a sense to protect her eggs, like Mothra. And if you're going to base it off the flight, then I guess Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is stolen from Mothra because Link flies a bird.

Are you illiterate? I said hollywood's representation of mothra. It's obvious that it was their own representation/twist of that creature. Man, what other creature from the Godzilla-verse is it inspired from then? l0l They didn't just pull it out of their asses.

All of the points you just made are incorrect.

  1. The MUTO's weren't an inspiration of Mothra at all. They're not remotely connected. In fact, there was a Mothra easter egg when the two main characters snuck into the power plant as a pod was cleverly hidden amongst the wreckage with the name "MOTHRA" on it. So, you're wrong, it was never suppose to be Mothra, likened to Mothra, or even remotely remind people of Mothra.
  2. I assumed you were a hardcore Godzilla fan knowing about Mothra, so I believed you would watch at least certain interviews and one-on-one's with the creators? No, oh well. It still seemed obvious throughout the film that the creator was trying to arose suspense and leave the viewer anxious for more Godzilla akin to the way Jaws was handled (another inspiration for the way the movie was handled by the way).
  3. I understand the situation, but 3D generally ruins movies so I don't understand why you would risk such an experience for the opportunity of your friends, but to each his own and I don't really fault you although I might say that seeing it in 3D also made the viewing experience worst since that feature is usually more appreciated on a action packed blockbuster --- which directly leads back to point two.
  4. Yes, it was better than that movie and some of the other original Godzilla movies as well, a feat impressive in it's own right.

They did just pull it out of their asses. Who the hell wants to watch a remake? How do you think the kaiju come into existence in the series anyways? They just make them up. Throughout the whole entire series of Godzilla, they just make up new creatures. People will find a reason to hate anything.

Keep the same thing; "It's way too repetitive! This sucks!"

Stay original and new; "Why can't they go back to their roots! This sucks!"

MUTO? No, I never claimed I was a hardcore fan. I only vaguely remember watching the old films as a kid and that 1998 one. I didn't bother searching up the movie on google or anything to avoid spoilers since I assumed the movie was going to be good. No you're wrong. It's not an impressive feat. when the movie it surpassed wasn't even that great. 3D was our only option of watching, none of us did not want to prolong it even further by watching it next week so we just watched the only screening which was 3D for that night.

We've seen the enemy a lot more than Godzilla itself, idc if the director did it intentionally or not. It's stupid, why even call it Godzilla if he only appears 5-10 mins in the 2 hour movie. I'm 100% certain not everyone in the movie theater has watched that interview that you were talking about and I shouldn't even watch a interview just to feel a bit better about the lack of appearance of Godzilla or pathetic teasing of Godzilla.
