Chapter 9: Legacy of the Rikudo Sennin

I walked back into the chamber of the Great sage, and as usual, there sat the elderly Toad. I walked up to him. I tapped the tattoos on the back of my hand as senjutsu chakra flooded my body. I looked in a small mirror, and saw that two green dots, a purple fang shaped streak and orange shading on my eyelid appeared around both my eyes.

"The others were right, you do look exactly like my master," the elderly toad said. "Now tell me, did the others give you any gifts?"

"Yes the have," I said as I clapped my hands together and summoned a scroll. I unrolled it and with clouds of smoke appeared the ring staff, the magatama necklace and the mirror shield.

"Ah good, you have the tools of the sage," he said as he looked at the items.

"What exactly are these for?" I asked.

"When the sage was close to death he split his power around the world to prevent any one individual from growing too powerful. His weapons were the first step. He sent his five sacred tools to a place of great mountains struck by lightning. These tools fell in the hands of Kumogakure. But his most powerful tools he gave to us, the sage animals, so we could protect them. To the slug priestess he gave his ring staff and necklace. The staff possesses the power to generate chakra effortlessly for the owner to use. The necklace is used for sealing. To the snake Priest he gave the Kusenagi blade and the Yata mirror. The Kusenagi possess the ability to cut through almost anything and extend to great lengths but was lost to Orochimaru. The mirror is imbued with all nature elements and is an impervious shield to ninjutsu. And Finally to the Toad monk he gave his two most sacred and powerful weapons. The first was the object used to create all but one of his tools. The forge of dreams. The second was a blade capable of sealing anything it touched within it's hilt, the Totsuka no Tsurugi," he explained as a section of the wall behind him opened. Inside was a frog statue, and in it's hands was a massive iron hammer, with a head as wide as my body and a handle that was nearly twice my body length. Tied to it with a length of golden chain was a beautifully engraved sword and scabbard. I walked up to them. I grabbed the hammer with both hands and moved to lift it. To my surprise, it was rather light. I started to remove the sword when suddenly the golden chain unwound from the hammer and tied itself around my waist. I returned to my other items. I placed the necklace around my neck, placed the staff on my back, put the shield on my arm and held the massive hammer halfway up it's handle.

"So young one, what is it exactly that you plan to do with these weapons?" he asked me. I began to walk away from him and out the door.

"I have a score to settle."
