looks good but for some reason (its probably just me) it doesn't blend well with the background

Dave is right, it could be blended better,

It looks like you created a background and just pasted the render w/o doing anything to make it blend. When you're trying to create depth, don't just blur the background blur some parts of the render too.

Nice job there Method, it looks really good nice depth and lighting and it has good composition. Maybe tweak the colors a bit more to blend it in better, but you said you were having PS issues so that doesn't help any.
