A girl was forced by her father to eat faeces after she had made a mess of her father's newspapers on 3 February.

According to a report by Zhejiang Satellite TV, a man in his 30s punished his daughter at a shopping centre in Hang Zhou, China, after she misbehaved and threw his newly-bought newspapers on the floor.

Witnesses the station spoke to said the man had dragged his daughter to a public toilet. He then scooped up faeces from the toilet and smeared it over his daughter's face and mouth repeatedly until bystanders tried to stop the man by separating the child from her father.

The police revealed that the man is a university graduate and has been evaluated and found to not suffer from any mental illness. He is also divorced from his wife.

As the girl is under 10-years-old, her father has full custody of his daughter. The man was let off by the police after receiving counselling.

Enraged netizens said the father should be punished by the law.

"If this were America, this father not only would no longer be able to see his daughter but would also be in prison," said Zhanghuxk.

Another netizen rebeccasyh added, "Scum, China’s children are so miserable, all treated as the property of adults. Little children have their own minds too, and they have their own dignity!

eh i just read the article and i just got to be the one to say.. who freakin cares!?!? people talking about if this was america the dad would be put in jail.. why do americans feel like the rest of the world needs to americanize??! this was done in a different country, its non of our business, so what if a dad smears shit on his daughters face!!

I see, well to be honest it's bad to eat your own feces. It will literally make you sick. Think about it..it's dead waste, it contains bacteria.

At minimum, if you eat anything contaminated by these bacteria, you will get sick and suffer from stomach/abdominal pain, cramping, and diarrhea. The way he treated the child, HER DAUGHTER, wasn't humane at all. It' just the newspaper. He could of gotten another.

I believe it has to do with how, we as humans don't like this type of treatment, specially not against kids. Doesn't matter where the child is from.
