I was just reading up on Frieza and saw it said because of his name the Ginyu force was named after items found in a refrigerator, has anyone heard that before? This was my first time hearing it.
His name is a pun on freezer, and because of this the members of the Ginyu Force are named after items one would normally put in a refrigerator.[3] Source: Wikipedia, Wikipedia's source: DRAGON BALL 天下一伝説 (in Japanese). Shueisha. 2004. pp. 80–91. ISBN 4-08-873705-9
The Ginyu Force members follow the tradition of Dragon Ball characters being named for puns; in this case, all manner of dairy products: Guldo is derived from "yogurt", Recoome from "creme", Burter from "butter", Jeice from "cheese", and Ginyu is derived from "milk". The name Ginyu Tokusentai itself translates to "Special Corps. Milk". Source:
Gurd (グルド Gurudo?)
Reacoom (リクーム Rikūmu?)
Butta (バータ Bāta?)
Jheese (ジース Jīsu?)
Captain Ginyu(ギニュー隊長 Ginyū Taichō?) <Source: Wikipedia
With these spellings it's a little easier of a connection to make than Jeice and Burter or Guldo.
Jheese- Cheese
Butta- Butter
gurd- yo-Gurd
I still don't see a connection between Reacoom and Crème though
Just thought I'd share and see if this was news to anyone else
BONUS*
Majin Buu and his masters were named after a Disney rhyme
Bibbity Boppity Boo, Bibidi Babidi Buu.
