GIMP help and questions

Anyway i got gimp 5 days ago and i've been experimenting

every time i set a path (Not selecting the one were it locks the over all thing, but the one after you create the path and can send a solid line along it, commonly used in Anime drawings)

I can not even use another path and i am left saying what the **** and getting frustrated.

also any tips on drawing curling hair

I have gimp too and I don't use it... :| wish I could help better
