I don't see why this Itachi anime would be a stand alone anime. To manage their budget and time it only makes sense if they incoporate it within the current ongoing anime.

The Naruto anime has been a joke for years.

They release an entire year of filler (which is supposed to be used so as not to catch up to quickly to the manga, and to give time to animate further) and yet have no plans to return to canon episodes.

At this point they have shunned the actual Naruto fans, and are pandering to the lowest common denominator. I don't know a serious fan left who has good things to say about SP.

But I haven't been watching them. The only filler of this saga I watched was the Karin episode. And I didn't care for it. I usually just come online, and check to see where the anime is. If it's still on fillerthon, I don't bother.
