I have had a trust tablet for 4 years now. It still works fine, though the pen has taken some damage. Still works.

I haven't used any other tablet other than Ipad and i do say it's very good for GFX'ing, additionally the retina display helps alot for you to get a good review on your project allowing you to spot the tiniest mistakes. Though the Retina is only available in Ipad 3, Ipad 4 and Ipad Air whcih would be the latest, though these aren't very cheap well in the end neither of the latest apple products are cheap.

I honestly don't know about cheap tablets mate. If you think to get one ... well it is better if you invest some money and buy a decent one. I personally like the "wacom cintiq 24hd", it is indeed expensive (around 2600$) but if you think doing it professionally it is worth! But I assume that this is way too much for a start. I realized that just now Lol Then I would say that "WACOM INTUOS4 M" (around 250-300$) it's pretty good for someone who just starts working with a tablet.
But look mate, if you have the dealers for it you can always find cheap stuff xd Just try to google and you might find good stuff.
