[Suggestion] GFX Chat thread

I think there should be a GFX Chat thread just like the closed RP chat thread, a thread where the GFX artistes of the base can chill out, help each other out, suggest new things and inspire each other.
The GFX Designers of NB are the best members I know (well not all of them, but the active ones are cool), no one of them is a trouble maker and they all respect the rules, the best example is the design hall section that has never been trolled before, so yeah, a GFX Chat thread is a good idea imo.

Design Hall gets trolled too. Not nearly as much as the popular forums though.

I think I can recall Odin posting porn pics in the designers hall as a form of art. Or was this someone else? My point is that trolls troll everywhere but this is not an excuse to discourage a good idea.
On topic, I like it. Maybe it will even help gfx contests/events to be held more often.

The tutorials&resources section is not interactive at all and the help section is pretty much for specific things, not for general discussion.

Logically speaking it would be nice to have but don't you think that is why groups exist? You could make a GFX group and have a chat there. Especially if you moderate it well, you can inspire each other. You could even go in the direction that the welcome committee went such as motivating new GFXers as well as veterans. I know not everyone can give us the advice we need but sometimes a little comment can go a long way.

Its a good idea, but I think there is too many chat threads around here >_> .it will just become messy .

Making a gruop is a better idea.

Only the members of the group can post in it, a chat thread is a whole different thing, everyone will be able to post in it which is cool, not being a GFX artist doesn't mean that you don't have a taste. And we obviously can add each and every GFX designer on NB to the group because we obviously don't know how many artists do we have, we only know the most famous ones.
I think that a Chat thread is better than a chat group, chat groups always die because nobody is interested in them. That's just what I think.

I personally see no point in this, as the subsections cover both tutorials for beginners, resources(where you can post renders, tutorials and inspiration).

If a group is dying it means the interest is dying, so a subforum would also die if the interest for it dies. Look at the "GFX Help" and "GFX Resources" forums. Kinda inpopular compared to "Design Hall". Lack of interest of sharing is a factor i say. If we had a "GFX Chat" subforum, it'd cover both the tutorial and help one as ppl would post there instead.

Yeah, but if there was a chat thread, and we all know how active can chat threads be, people would ask questions tell us about their GFX problems and they would definitely receive an answer in a blink of an eye.
The way I see it, let's give it a try and see what happens.

There is no "try" when it comes to subsections. It's not one of those things you just add to see if it's popular enough to stay within a month.

Why so? it's just a normal thread, it'll only take a click of a button, you don't even have to pin it.

As a mod of the GFX sections, I don't see this as a bad idea. There's no thread currently for some casual interaction between members where GFX is involved, sure a group can be made, but we all know groups are never active.

This is a nice idea. If this is implemented though, I just hope that members won't go off topic and start posting Spam, because most threads of these types turn into Spam fests, just for the purpose of raising their post counts.

I'd be down for the thread. Sometimes for me there is a particular thing I would like to talk about concerning GIMP and it would be nice to talk to others who use it. Maybe they can recommend new tuts or videos that I couldn't find. Not that I am lazy but sometimes I just don't have time to look.

But yes, even the most great of ideas have flaws. I hope if it WAS implemented people would respect it enough not to overly spam it and burn it to the ground.

Indeed. I was gonna suggest that they disable post counting in the thread, to halt Spam,if it was implemented, but I don't think that's possible, from my experience on the Admin CP, they would have to disable post counting for the whole forum/subforum, which is not a good thing.

Anyway, we're all too damn lazy to post anything we want to say concerning GFX, resources, found resources... in new threads. But if we had a GFX chat thread, everything would go smoothly, people will reply faster and tell the other members about their problems and they will definitely receive a fast reply.
As for the spam and post count thing, the modz can simply do what they did to the chatroom in the chatterbox section and disable adding posts to the users' post count whenever they post something in the GFX chat thread.
